Out-of-Network Therapy Reimbursement for U.S. Clients
Out-of-network therapy insurance may help eligible clients receive partial reimbursement for online therapy sessions through their insurance provider.
How Reimbursement Works
Out-of-network therapy reimbursement lets US clients recover part of each session fee from their insurer, even though MMHI does not bill insurance directly. Here is how it works.
After each session, you will receive a superbill (receipt) that you can submit to your insurance provider.
This includes:
- Therapist name and credentials
- License and registration details
- Session date, duration, and fee
- Required billing information for reimbursement
Your insurance provider will determine:
- Whether you qualify for reimbursement
- How much you are reimbursed
- When reimbursement is issued
We recommend contacting your insurance provider in advance to confirm your out-of-network mental health benefits.
Out-of-network therapy reimbursement in three steps
Step one: call your insurer and ask whether you have out-of-network benefits for psychotherapy, what the deductible is and how much is reimbursed per session. Step two: book and pay for sessions as normal. Step three: submit the superbill we send you (therapist licence number, CPT codes, dates and amounts) through your insurer’s portal. Out-of-network therapy reimbursement typically returns 40 to 80 percent of the fee once the deductible is met.
