About Me
I’m Nate Buckley, a Registered Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. I hold a Master’s Degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from California Southern University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Marriage and Family Studies from Brigham Young University–Idaho. My professional path, combined with my personal journey, has given me a deep appreciation for resilience, growth, and the healing power of connection.
Before becoming a therapist, I was an electrician, a painting contractor, a general contractor, a property manager, a real estate broker, and international arms dealer (asked me about that sometime) and business owner. As a young man, I served in the United States Army National Guard. My time of service was cut short due to a car accident that led to a medical discharge. This, among many other events, would create abrupt changes that taught me firsthand about life’s unpredictability and the importance of adapting in the face of loss. Since then, I have experienced many of life’s ups and downs, including raising four children during a marriage that lasted over 17 years, walking through the challenges of divorce, and now building a new chapter of love and partnership with my fiancée.
Alongside my family experiences, I’ve worked in diverse industries and started businesses that have seen both great success and painful struggle. I know what it feels like to be laid off, to watch a contract end unexpectedly, and to wrestle with the highs and lows of entrepreneurship. These experiences help me connect with clients who are navigating stress, uncertainty, or major life transitions.
How I Work
My therapeutic approach is compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to each client. I draw from modalities such as Symbolic Modelling, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and solution-focused approaches. Whether I’m working with couples, families, or individuals, my goal is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel understood and supported.
For Couples
Relationships can be deeply rewarding yet incredibly challenging. When patterns of conflict, distance, or misunderstanding take hold, it can feel discouraging. I help couples slow down, listen differently, and rebuild trust so they can reconnect with authenticity and care.
For Families
Families carry both joy and stress, especially during transitions, conflict, or times of loss. I support families in breaking unhelpful cycles, improving communication, and strengthening bonds so that home becomes a place of connection rather than conflict.
For Individuals
Life’s challenges can feel overwhelming, whether they come through anxiety, depression, trauma, or personal setbacks. I help individuals uncover strengths, heal old wounds, and move toward greater confidence and balance.

A Final Note
My life has taught me that healing is rarely a straight path; it’s a process of falling, learning, getting back up, and walking forward with new strength. Whether you are navigating relationship struggles, family challenges, or personal pain, you don’t have to face it alone. I would be honoured to walk with you.
